Crafted from original ore pure Hongni clay, this classic Shui Ping teapot embodies the timeless artistry of Yixing ceramics. Hongni, or "red clay," refers to a category of Yixing zisha clay that turns a striking red hue when fired. This particular clay type, making up approximately 8% of all zisha, is prized for its purity—free of added colorants or powders—allowing it to develop a rich, bronze patina over time, enhancing both its beauty and character.
Ideal for young sheng puerh and oolong teas, this Xiao Hongni teapot also works beautifully with any tea of your choice. The naturally porous clay absorbs the oils of the tea, subtly refining and deepening the flavors with continued use. For optimal results, we recommend dedicating the teapot to a single class of tea (such as puerh) or teas with similar flavor profiles.
Preparation for Use
To prepare your Hongni Shui Ping Pot, rinse it twice with warm water (the same quality used for brewing tea). Then, fill the pot with boiling water, emptying it two to three times. After this simple seasoning process, your teapot is ready to enrich your tea sessions for years to come.
