Honey Orchid comes from old-growth, wild, large-leaf trees at an altitude of 1760- 2000m. The wild trees, combined with trees planted roughly a century ago, yield this stunning puerh with flavors of wild honey, fresh woodsy citrus rind, aromatic herbs and mellow floral notes. The energy is clean, strong and settling. Clean, elegantly bittersweet, dreamy fragrance and gradual smoothness after the third infusion with a sweet aftertaste. This is young puerh the way we love it- fresh, complex, clean, patient and medicinal. .
We received this tea from a family-owned small business, established in 1931. Their tea mountains were confiscated by the communist government in the early 50's. Fifty some years later, in 2006, Yiwei Chen, the son of the founder, and his daughter Weiqing Chen, revived the abandoned tea mountains and resumed their family business. They own a total of more than 2,800 high-quality wild tea trees, most of which are at least a couple hundred years old. These trees have been growing in the biodiverse Menghai region of Yunnan, which has an ideal climate for tree growing. All Chenxi teas are made by hand using the traditional method. The family motto is: Be an honest person and make the best tea. We’re grateful to share their beautiful teas with you.
